Fenn (they/them) is a photographer, creative director, designer, and educator based in Sacramento, California. They are passionate about using photography as a means of healing and connection.
Their images work to resist the neoliberal pursuit of hyper-visibility of marginalized identities by engaging in unique forms of semi-anonymity of the subject. Working within the frameworks of queer theory, Fenn utilizes “trans” and “queer” as actions that reject the physical surface of both the body and the image surface. They use photography to document something that is not visible, but manifests visually in a way that plays with the aesthetics and expectations of gender.
In their directing and designing work, Fenn puts a powerful emphasis on the raw moments that connect us as humans. Their fresh take on marketing and publishing creates an impactful experience that seeks to challenge the hegemonic trends in content creation and allow for a more human approach to digital engagement.
As an educator, Fenn is dedicated to the Social Emotional Learning models, putting student wellbeing at the forefront of what they do while teaching consistently effective and powerful lessons in art practice.
Connection is at the core of what they do, so please reach out with any questions, suggestions, or collaborations.
